OurShelves Intern (Position Open) - 06/07/2022
OurShelves is seeking an Intern to assist the OurShelves team with a wide variety of exciting projects as we grow this business and advocacy effort committed to ensuring ALL children and ALL families have a place on OurShelves.
Most important qualities:
- Understands and believes in the vision of OurShelves;
- Positive, upbeat, friendly;
- Enjoys working on teams;
- Reliable and responsible (reliably on time, communicative about any issues that arise);
- Self-directed, organized, can establish own goals and timelines to meet goals;
- Communicates well in writing;
- Able to summarize findings in memo writing;
- Detail- and accuracy-oriented — this is very important for this position;
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Powerpoint (and google docs equivalents);
- Curious and excited to learn and research in new areas;
- Flexible and nimble (able to shift directions/priorities based on needs of business — start-ups can be less predictable than long-established organizations with more staff); and
- Willing to share their own ideas and questions about a project.
While none of the below experience is required, please let us know if you have any of the following experience:
- Experience editing websites;
- Experience working with a subscription company;
- Experience working with a start-up company;
- Community organizing and/or advocacy experience;
- Experience with excel and google sheets;
- Experience with data, analytics, metrics, reporting;
- Database management experience;
- Data entry experience;
- Graphic design experience, specifically with Photoshop;
- Communications experience;
- Social media experience;
- Photography expertise;
- Video creation and editing expertise;
- Accounting experience.
Time Commitment: 5-10 hours/week (Position may be remote.) We would like at least a 3-6 month commitment so we have enough time to build relationship.
Compensation: $15/hour. (We are also happy to work with interns to receive course credit for their work with OurShelves.)
